Yay!! Hooray for 1sts! That looks might sturdy and balanced. What’s in the mold? Is that a gorilla? Way to go and thanks for the pic! I think they are orangutans. He left them here to pour, coming back in two weeks.

Jay Jade and his first plaster gauze backings! Made from three latex rubbers he purchased from esty. Good rubber but not thick enough for pouring without backings. The one he is holding he did all on his on!!

thanks team, I'm gonna stay true to my art and not let my molds go. i pride myself on making unique designs that aren't cookie cutter and even though a leaf is a leaf, it is my time and experience that made it possible. for me its not always about the money but sometimes it has to be. i spent 10's of thousands to be able to do my movies for the public for free! i think my art needs to stay with its artistic value. thank you Webb and Newbelisa for setting me straight... I’m so happy that you are not letting someone take what is, in my opinion, a piece of you. It irks me that some people ask so easily for what is unreasonable, make such unfair requests without a second thought. It’s not unkind to say no to unreasonable requests. I have learned over and over how awful it feels when I don’t protect my value. Here I was hesitating to say something and now 2 people I’ve come to respect are backing me up on it. I’ve got your backs, Gents. Thanks for having mine. I needed the worth protection talk. Thank yall!!

He wants a latex mold of your hand-cast leaf? Personally, I would say no. The only reason to buy a mold is to reproduce multiples of the casting. If you sell 5 leaf castings at $20/each, you’d earn $100. By selling the mold for $80, you are giving away the 5th leaf, and every one after that, for free! How much time, how much money would it take him to learn to do it himself? Since I’ve come to learn about what goes into the making of molds, I feel like they are intellectual property, to be kept by the artist who determines how/when it can be used. I struggle with pricing, too. Like Webb, I’d rather give it away. But I am learning that I have to set boundaries, and that I have to stand up for my own value. This may be irrelevant to your current situation; I don’t mean to project my stuff on you. But if you’re on the fence, say no. Your molds are priceless. He can buy a pressed-plastic elephant ear mold on Amazon for about $35. Then figure out the concrete and go to town making as many as he wants. Yes yes yes!!!! Someone with a back bone!!!! Know your worth, most don't. Most want Something for nothing! Let's all hold strong, we are not a cookie cutter bunch, we are the Art side!!!! Thank you NEWBILISA!!!

It being a one of a kind makes worth more than others who just copy. Drama and Gris sold skins, pretty high priced. price it for you.

These come from across!! A person from Chattanooga Tennessee contacted me and we are fixing to make backings for these. These stand true and appear to be thin enough to pull without a seam. ?

There is a few people that do seams in the uk some moulds do not need a seam. Most sellers in the uk will make moulds that dont need one as its easier and quicker to get moulds out the door. Also selling a mould with a seam without backing is abit of a problem. If you are looking for a good mould maker that does have moulds with seams and does a outstanding job making moulds and backings let me know and i will share. Hey ricky, can some of you peeps across the pond post some rubber reviews in the materials threads? I would love to know them myself.😉😁

I have tried to make my own latex moulds in the past, but I failed miserably. I couldn't seem to find the time to build up the layers in between doing the school runs, cooking dinners and getting the kids ready for bed etc and all of my efforts were epic fails, so I gave up (it was just a whole lot easier to buy them). But I really wish that mould makers in the UK would adopt the 'seam' method instead of what you call a 'glove mould' in the States... Would make the de-moulding process a whole lot easier. I think i love you!!! Just kidding! Look we can help you. The rubber y'all have is different, for sure. I would love for y'all to find or try some high solids rubber! Lets try!

I suggest as is and an understanding this a friendly transaction!!😉😯😁 I have used backyard moulds before i trust them to be fair and honest. I am not worried about them.😉😯😁 I don't want inexperienced mold people hurting good experience mold builders! All good for a go!😁

I'm looking for a sculptor to make original statues exclusively for my use. I have some ideas but of course I don't have the skills. Is this something that can be found here. I would like someone to sculpt but I pay for and own the design. hello Green 4209 please introduce yourself, it is a requirement on this forum.
